| No lack of flowers or romantic dinners
Valentine's Day deliveries depended on a set of good snow tires and a prayer, said Michelle Jacob, owner of Distinguishing Touch Florist in Londonderry. "The biggest word of the day - prayer. That, and we were organized," said Jacob, who has been operating as one of Cupid's floral helpers for 24 years. "We just made a lot of heroes out of our customers today. That's what we do. That's what it's all about, just to make that wonderful surprise on Valentine's Day happen, no matter what the weather." .
Wedding event designed to give ideas for special day
For brides, grooms, mothers of the bride and even mothers-in-law of the bride, the place to be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday is Longview's Maude Cobb Convention Center. A Wedding Fanfare 2007 is designed for anyone involved in planning a wedding, according to Erin Sutton, community marketing coordinator for the hosting Longview News-Journal. The event is free and will feature 35 exhibitors and plenty of chances to win free prizes — including a $1,000 honeymoon travel voucher, she said. Carolyn Williams, owner of CW Boutique, has been participating in the event for several years. "We get a lot of customers from there and a lot of those come from out-of-town," Williams said. "A lot of brides from out-of-town aren't familiar with our store, so it's good exposure." If those prospective customers like what they see they have a habit of going home and telling their friends, she said.
Should I Book Online or Use an Agent?
FAIRFIELD, CT -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 29, 2007 -- "Professional, well-connected and experienced travel agents score high marks when it comes to making complex travel arrangements for luxury vacation customers," says Nancy Yale, President, Cruise Resort & World Travel, Inc. When planning for overseas vacations or when managing the details of travel where special requirements are necessary, Nancy Yale advises the traveler to use agents versus booking their own travel online. Travel agents can use their knowledge of the properties and their personal relationships with hotels, resorts, tour companies and cruise lines in order to provide amenities that you can't get online. Agents are indispensable for travelers who are visiting a new and unfamiliar destination, and are crucial to vacationers who, once they have arrived, are in a tight spot or need additional reservations or assistance.
